Your colours, from the same selfie
Your colour read uses the same selfie as your face read.
It samples skin colour in four face zones, estimates your undertone and colour season, then narrows to one of twelve sub-seasons, three within each season. From that it builds your palette: colours to wear, colour pairs, metals and colours to avoid. The skin tone detector runs the colour read on its own.
Photo tipLight matters most for colour: warm indoor light pushes skin towards warm and shade pushes it towards cool, so face a window in daylight and skip the filter.

Method
How we check our method
Published, repeatable rules
The face-shape rules are deterministic, and they are published on how FaceAuraAI works. Re-run on 1,003 cached portrait landmark sets, they return the same label each set was filed under, for all 1,003. Those labels were first assigned by these rules, so this shows the method is consistent and reproducible. It does not show how often a person would agree with the label, which is why we publish no accuracy figure.
A confidence label on every result
Instead, each result carries its own confidence label, set by how well that photo could be read and explained on quality and evaluation.
Statistics only with their biases
We don't yet publish production counts of how often each shape appears. When we do, they will come with a sample window and stated biases on face shape statistics. The main bias is already plain: people who choose to upload a selfie to a style tool are not a random sample of faces.
Privacy
How we handle your photo
Your selfie: used once, never stored
Where your browser supports it, your selfie is resized and its location and camera metadata removed before it is sent. Landmarks are found in your browser first, and on our server if they can't be (currently by Amazon Rekognition). The photo is sent once, over an encrypted connection, for quality checks and colour sampling. It is held in memory for that request only, never written to disk or a database, and never used to train models.
Your measurements: export or delete
We keep the measurements, in a profile that works without an account; export or delete them at any time.
Body shape: the photo stays on your device
Body shape differs: the full-length photo stays on your device, and only three ratios and a photo-quality summary are sent to save the result. See the privacy policy.

Is FaceAuraAI free?
Yes, every tool is free to try. Without an account you get 2 reads a day; a free account gets 5 a month, and paid plans add more. A Full Face Read counts as one read, not one per part.
Do you store my photo or use it to train AI?
No. Your selfie is used for one read and then discarded: held in memory for that request, never written to disk or a database, never used to train models. We keep the measurements, which you can export or delete at any time. For body shape, the full-length photo stays on your device.
Can I use it before seeing a hairstylist?
Yes, that's what it's for. Read your face before the appointment and show your stylist the ranked haircuts, each with the measurement it answers. Your stylist still judges what a photo doesn't measure, such as hair texture and how your hair grows.
How reliable is the result?
Each result carries a confidence label (High, Medium or Lower) based on the photo's lighting and sharpness, your head angle, how many landmarks were measured rather than estimated, and how close the runner-up was, with the reasons in words. Lower confidence is an honest result, not an error. A straight-on photo in even light, hair back and glasses off, gives the clearest read.
Does it work for men and women?
Yes. The measurements are the same for everyone. Recommendations come from catalogues for the audience you choose, such as men's or women's haircuts; that choice is yours and never inferred from your face. The men's face shape guide sets out haircuts, beards and frames for each shape.
