Is oblong the same as rectangle?
We use oblong as the primary label and rectangle as a common alias in styling copy.

An oblong (rectangle) face is noticeably longer than wide, with forehead, cheek, and jaw widths that stay fairly even.
How to recognise it
Compare forehead, cheekbone, and jaw widths against face length. Look for which third is widest and whether angles read soft or angular in a front-facing photo.
Hair direction
- Blunt or curtain bangs — Bangs cut vertical length.
Glasses direction
- Aviator — Width at the sides shortens a long face.
- Wayfarer — A deeper frame adds horizontal weight.
- Browline — A bold top line stops the face from reading extra-long.
Blend note
Photos often sit between two families. The detector reports alternative scores when cheekbone, jaw, and forehead widths are close — use the blend panel on the tool result for the full split.
