Emotion Detector (Facial Expression)

Shows which facial expressions a face-analysis model reads in one photo; it describes the expression on the face, not how the person feels, and never affects style recommendations.

Before you upload

This reads the expression on a face in this photo — a smile, a frown — not what the person feels. A posed smile and a real one can read the same.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the emotion detector work?

Amazon Rekognition compares the expression on the face in your photo with expressions it has learned — calm, happy, surprised and so on — and says how strongly each one matches.

Can it tell how someone feels?

No. It reads the face, not the feeling. People smile when they're not happy and look calm when they're not; the tool can't tell the difference.

Can I use it to assess someone?

No. It must not be used for hiring, education, health or any decision about a person.

Is my photo stored?

No. Your photo is sent to Amazon Rekognition for this one estimate and is not written to disk or a database by FaceAuraAI. The result isn't saved to your profile and isn't used for any recommendation.

Is it free?

Yes, within the same free allowance as the other tools: 2 reads a day without an account, 5 a month with a free one.
